19 de noviembre 1493 en Puerto Rico

In honor of the 515th Aniversary of the Discovery of Puerto Rico (today), I’m posting a few pictures of my home town, San Juan, and also Culebra, my favorite little island of the northeast coast of Puerto Rico. I travelled home with a few friends last year and these are their pictures. I’ve also included a few interesting links to the history of Puerto Rico.

Hoy, 19 de noviembre es el 515 aniversario del descubrimiento de Puerto Rico, la Isla del Encanto… mi islita del ensueño.

Also, since we close to the holidays, I’m posting my mother’s Christmas Coquito recipe.
Coquito is, somewhat, the Puerto Rican version of a Holiday eggnog… sort of.
  • 1 pint of Haagen Dazs vanilla bean ice cream
  • 1 can of condensed milk
  • 1 can of Carnation milk
  • 1 can of Coco Lopez, cream of coconut
  • 1 cup of Don Q (white Puerto Rican rum)

Mix it all in a blender and enjoy!!
