New Design for Office Lounges

hello all
this one, more like posting something for you to see and enjoy,  is a request for all of you, as designers, architects and corporate office people to give ideas about the new office space!!! Singapore Office wants to create a different concept of lobby, more interactive, colourful, enjoyable!!!

The word would be a POSITIVE ENERGY WORKING ENVIROMENT!

I heard the Toronto Office Lobby is very nice… also Chicago is brand new right? Anything worth sharing? BRAINSTORMING please!!!
thanks so much

paula

Great opportunity to provide a new HOK face to the public and an inspiring “front door” for employees.

Be creative! You might think about projecting both the HOK brand identity *and* design metaphors that convey the regional culture/geography.

Our public spaces seem to start with a strong modernist statement (the way the space is defined, materials, details, etc.) but then the “personality” has a lot to do with other elements that are integrated (eg. lighting fixtures, iconic furniture, art, technology, forms and surfaces, greenery).

I really appreciate your desire to “think outside the box” and create a space that is somewhat unexpected.

    Good luck!

Hey Paula, hope you’re well! That’s pretty cool that you’re using this post to gather some ideas and excitement. I like the image from the Klein Dytham ad agency on the left. I really enjoy that project not only b/c of its ‘playful’ and ‘freindly’ sensibility but also how there is a sense of language that is translated into various seating types, experience, and even ‘vantage’ points. I think David hit on something above that is really key which is culture/geography. Or, how can a sense of genuine ’storytelling’ of that space resonate with those that are visiting the office, and ultimately Singapore itself. However, I think it’s important to not try and ‘utopian-ize’ that experience too much while still honoring modernities values that are relevant. Good luck and keep us updated!

Here’s a look at the (gorgeous) new Chicago office you mentioned, Paula. I’m hoping we’ll get the whole design story here on the blog from one of our CHI friends – like Hitchcock’s film cameos, they appear in some of the photos.

    Dear Paula,
Nice Blog. I am too an architect working along beach road with the Parsons Brinckerhoff. Is the Singapore office hiring? Been there for 2+ years and thinking of changing my office environment. Stay cool. Thanks.

    Chris
