Designing the way kids play

I always liked the simplicity and playfulness of this small but poetic playground, but it had become an eyesore for years as it continued to rust and become unsafe for children. I love how the simple geometries and colors allow the children to use thier creativity and explore this one-of-a kind playground. Here is an excerpt on the history of the playground:

“Your eyes do not deceive – Noguchi Playscapes has been renovated!  Piedmont Park is fortunate to have the only playground of its kind in the United States by internationally renowned sculptor, designer, and architect, Isamu Noguchi. Noguchi Playscapes was commissioned in 1975 by the High Museum of Art and officially opened in 1976. The sculpture playground was to function as a learning environment that children could enjoy and explore. Thanks to the new facelift, children can continue to enjoy Noguchi. Its preservation has been a joint effort of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, Piedmont Park Conservancy and the residents that comprise the Midtown Parents Group.”
