Planetizen Announces Top 100 Urban Thinkers
This summer, Planetizen polled its readers on who they thought were the top 100 thinkers. The poll was open for all to submit names and vote as they saw fit…and the results are in. I found them to be quite interesting.
I love that the selections range from the ancient (Vitruvius) to the modern (Duany and Plater-Zyberk, who I would have listed together rather than separately), from planners (Robert Moses), architects (Frank Lloyd Wright), and landscape architects (FLO) to politicians (Earl Blumenauer), sociologists (Georg Simmel) and industrialists (Henry Ford). It’s a great list and fun to think about why each person might have been selected.
Check out the list – who would you choose?

Check out what others had to say. Some hilarious insight (as in comparing Corbu to an office park developer): http://marynewsom.blogspot.com/2009/09/corbu-or-you.html
