HOK Builds Canukshuk for Canstruction 2009

This year, HOK’s Toronto studio participated in the 11th annual design/build competition; Canstruction. The event was in support of the Daily Bread Food Bank, which provides food to thousands of family’s in the GTA.
The design was inspired by Inukshuks, which are stone structures created by Inuit people across the Canadian North and are used for navigation, as marker for hunting grounds, or as a food cache. The design team cleverly coined HOK’s structure Canukshuk.
The Canukshuk leads the way and gives hope to those braving Toronto’s urban tundra – a sign that we can all meet the demands of our journey in the city and in ourselves. The cans/stones of the Canukshuk sit so precariously, yet are perfectly balanced – it not only guides our way but feeds and powers our bodies. The Canukshuk stands as a beacon of hope and marks a safe path to health, wellness and abundance for all.
A special thank you to the Canstruction team members; their determination helped raise $5,800! AND a very special thank you to our donors who made the event possible!

Amazing looking, I love it, and want to eat it!
Ha, wrong post to comment on, but I still love it, and maybe want to eat it depending on what’s in the cans!!
