Architizer

It’s crazy how many social networking sites there are today. First I had Friendster (yes, I’m that old), and then it was MySpace, and then Facebook. This is in addition to Hi5, LinkedIn, MeetUp and the list goes on and on.
So I recently received an email for Architzer, which is basically yet another social networking site, but this one is geared towards Architects and Engineers. I’m not sure how useful it is yet, but I obviously signed up for it. I closed down my Friendster and MySpace accounts a long time ago. More recently, I was having a little bit of a Facebook crisis, so I suspended that account too. Architzer may just fill the void left behind. Or, I could completely ignore it like I do with LinkedIn and Hi5. Mental Note : close LinkedIn and Hi5 accounts…
So far, I am the only current employee, but there are 3 people who have HOK listed as a previous employer. I actually know one of them, so I guess it’s working so far.

Bryant,
I’m very fascinated by how online networks will change and evolve the construction industry, so I’m curious why you mean when you say, “…so I guess it’s working so far.”
How do you know when it’s working?

I simply meant by connecting with an old collegue, how that may open up potential for finding jobs, starting a new business venture or collaborating on a public competition. I think there is potential for this website to bring people together with similar design values and goals to collaborate on something new and exciting. I think it does lack an interaction or an outreach with the general public. It’s living in a bubble.
