Round 1 of HOK Golf ‘Championships’

It is thought that golf first started on our fair isle – apparently the earliest known reference to golf dates to 1457, when King James II of Scotland banned golf and football, on the grounds that they where keeping his subjects from their archery practice. The ban was repeated in 1471 by James III and in 1491 by James IV for the same reason…

Luckily for us, golf is no longer banned in the UK.  If fact British golf has seen a significant increase in new players in the past two years, according to figures from Sport England to the tune of over 59,000 new players.

Some of those may include the 15 HOKers who took part in the first HOK Golf Day a couple of weeks ago, kindly hosted by London’s Technical Director David King at his home club. I have heard some people’s rounds might well turn up in the record books as the longest in history (clocking up 7 hours apparently!) but an fun day was had by all. Here are a few snaps for your entertainment, including of pie and the awards ceremony afterwards…

Let’s hope there are a few practice rounds to speed us up before we entertain our clients on the golf course!

A great team bonding day for the London office as well as an educational event where i learnt so much (about Golf). Bruce and Thomas – great teachers! I wonder whether or not i should have put the day down to an HOKU day :)
