Thank You Hong Kong!

Three weeks ago to the day I was on an airplane, headed back from my three month stint working with the Planning Group in Hong Kong. Upon returning it was already time for the holidays… which was great because it left me with time to reflect about what a great experience my time in Asia had been. In what will likely be my last post about my time there I thought I would create a Best Of / Favorites / Top Ten / Craziest / Worst List…

Favorite New Food: Szechuan Style Chinese (check out Shui Hu Tau or Chile Figaro)

Yummy Szechuan!

Best Holiday Party: HOK Hong Kong… seriously all parties should have hula hoop, wii, and dance contests where the dress is “sporty”.

Hula Hoop War

Favorite Excursion: Temple of 10,000 Buddhas… forget the hot sweaty mess we were after the 400+ steps to the top. This was a very cool cultural experience that I will never forget.

Best Shopping: Cat Street Market… not for shoes, purses, or clothes, but for adorable dishes and cool lions.

Favorite View: From Kowloon looking back to Hong Kong Island… great sky line!

Worst Food: This gross candy from Aji Ichiban that I was tricked into thinking would taste good. Don’t try the green plum… it tastes like smelly socks!

Most Over-the-top Lights: Jumbo Kingdom… A delicious restaurant on the water that you couldn’t miss with your eyes closed.

Worst Moment: Being stuck in immigration between Hong Kong and mainland China after they had taken our passports and didn’t return for 15 minutes. I doubt Santa would have found me there.

Worst Idea: Keeping snakes in a cage with syran wrap! I mean the heads were smaller than the cage openings and syran wrap isn’t steel. It just seemed like they could escape to me.

Craziest Thing: Blinged out Merecedes at Christmas… I believe it was attacked by a Bedazzler!

I can’t thank my team members and friends in Hong Kong enough for showing me around a fantastic city and sharing their lives with me. (And did I mention getting to work on the coolest projects ever!!!)

I love it! thanks for sharing your unique experience in HK! I think you really have to spend some time in a place when you travel to get the full experience – I am so jealous of the time you had to take it all in!
