There is Some Magic in the 20 x 20

So St. Louis just held its first ever PechaKucha night and it was a lot of fun. More than 250 people packed the Foundation.  But I will get back to that in a minute…

What I really want to share is what’s happening next, because it’s ambitious and everyone who has a PechaKucha night in their city needs to come out and support the cause.  February 20th will be a worldwide wave of PK celebrations to support Architecture for Humanity’s rebuilding of Haiti relief efforts.  This is evolving quickly and I will post more updates as plan solidify.  For now,  click here to learn more.

Now, back to PK STL 01…Stone foundation, exposed pipes and raw concrete floors set the stage for a fun mix of 13 20 x 20 presentations ranging from a little performance art, to the inspirations of a collector, to a plan to light up McArthur Bridge, to a hilarious historical account of the St. Louis Mardi Gras.  What impressed me the most, in addition to the cool range of presentations, was the amazing energy of the crowd and their effusive support of each presenter.  Even Mayor Slay came out to give his props to the effort.

If you’re in STL on February 20th, we’ll be at the Foundation again and this time it will be officially open for business along with the upstairs restaurant, aptly named Bridge.  It will be a great party with some inspiring presenters and STL will have it’s 6 minutes 30 seconds of global fame as part of the official ‘wave.’
