London Office Pub Quiz night

HOK London’s new(ish) office at The Qube played host to our 2nd ever pub quiz night last Friday. I’m not sure if you have Quiz Nights in the US, I’m sure you do, but basically what happens over here is usually a local pub has a Quiz Night where customers form teams and play in competition to answer general knowledge questions. These nights can get very competitive, especially if the prize is alcohol, and we found, especially if other teams are colleagues!
So on Friday our ‘Quizmasters’ were schools-designer supremo Stefan Jakobek, justice building king Femi Oresanya and my wonderful Advance Strategies colleague Anna Sigler. These three designed some rather challenging questions for us, including an interesting ‘picture round; where we had to guess the HOK-designed buildings. See below…

The Winning team ‘Question Mark’, named so because they were sitting on our ‘question mark’ shaped sofa in the atrium, which I have previously blogged about here. However, part of this team was our Culture + Heritage team lead Mark Cannata, may be accused of being ‘Itanlian’ in his thinking the team name was named in honour of him…
What ever the reason, this team struck the right balance of intellectuals, popular culturists, film and music aficionados. The full winning team included:
- Vance Thompson – Commercial Lead Designer and Project Manager
- Jason Thomas – our amazing Head Model Maker
- Marion Lloyd – Librarian
- Jean Letherby – senior project architect
- Susan Finlay – Marketing + Business Developer
- Mark Cannata – Culture + Heritage team lead
- Andrew Barraclough – Director
Next quiz will be in June 2010, where we hope even more staff will join in. If you’re in town, please come along! Send me a message if you want to get your skills up to scratch, I can send you a copy of the questions the Quizmasters asked us on Friday!
