Austin Murray

One fateful day in seventh grade, Austin, who dreamed about being a lighting designer, was able to spend a day with HOK's head of lighting design in St. Louis. He pursued his dream throughout high school by working in theatrical lighting design on school plays.

Originally from St. Louis, Austin joined HOK's Los Angeles office in 2005, worked in HOK's New York office and is now with HOK in Chicago. Shortly after joining the Los Angeles office, Austin learned that HOK stands for "Heaven Only Knows."

Austin is particularly interested in airport and furniture design. Believing it's a very personal and subjective matter, he says he wouldn't even attempt to answer a question like, "What makes a design great?" But he does stick by his motto of, "Never stop making things better."

When not trying to improve the world, he likes working out at the gym and catching up on gadget news.
