Emma Wharton

Emma is a consultant for HOK’s Advance Strategies group in London. She applies her knowledge of local economics, sociology and psychology to a field in which she can immediately see those interests manifest themselves through the highly skilled hands of her planning and design colleagues throughout HOK.
Emma was born and raised in the UK’s rural Suffolk County. Her family farmed everything from peas to wheat and barley.
Curious and articulate, Emma has the calming persona often found in those raised in rural parts of the UK.
Emma thrust herself into the city scene to study in Leeds at the University of Leeds. Though her passions are for architecture and the fine arts, she guided herself to a major in something even more encompassing: Social Geography.
After graduating in 2003, Emma worked for a while doing PR and marketing, not really knowing the direction her studies would take her. Fortunately for us, in 2006 she found an opportunity at HOK London to do all the things her passions and experience equip her to do.
Emma loves London and enjoys the social scene of hanging out at coffee houses and galleries with friends. She likes to escape the energy of the city to visit her parents and to breathe in the fresh air back in Suffolk, where home-cooked meals still await.
