 We’re pretty lucky here in Chicago because we have a resident baker. Alyssa Simons, a designer in our interiors group, loves to bake and we love her for it. She regularly brings us tasty treats ranging from “Birthday Marshmallow Crisp Bars” to “Chocolate Haystack Surprises” (my personal favorite). She’s gaining quite the reputation as folks from all corners of the office meander over to where she sits just seconds after the seal on the tupperware is broken. Festivus…I need Help

After some kind words from the Interiors Group, I mentally prepared myself, and came to work this week with a renewed focus. As I was walking through the brisk winter air, I kept telling myself: “Today is the best day of my life. Today is the best day of my life.” Mostly just to bring up my confidence.

I would say for the first 10 minutes, it was good. Hadn’t said anything inappropriate, and no food on my lap, but then it happened.
“Why are you taking your third piece?”
“Don’t you know other people have to eat?”
I shot myself in the foot, and couldn’t talk myself out of this mess.
