I am so excited to share this video fresh from our latest and greatest PechaKucha Night in STL a few weeks ago. HOK’s very own Tim Gaidis was one of the biggest highlights of the night with his 20 x 20 presentation revealing the big paradigm shift in his life as a designer. As you might imagine from the title, this had a lot to do with our alliance with the Biomimicry Guild.
We had 12 other wonderful presentations at PK Night, some of which you can find here. In addition to some great photography here, we also had the wonderful surprise of a sketch artist in our midst who captured another lively presentation and posted on his blog, here. …
Last weekend was the big global Pecha Kucha event for Haiti, and St. Louis’ second PK night. It was a tall order for a new group of volunteer organizers to turn around our second-ever event, 3 weeks after our inauguration into the world of PK, but by all accounts we managed to pull it off, raising over $1000 for Architecture for Humanity.

A mix of Haiti-related and other thought-provoking, inspirational stories made their way to the stage, as you can read in the Beacon’s coverage of the night. Perhaps even more telling than the descriptions are the amazing photographs taken by one of our super talented Toky friends, Geoff Story.
My favorite part, and the piece that …
So St. Louis just held its first ever PechaKucha night and it was a lot of fun. More than 250 people packed the Foundation. But I will get back to that in a minute…
What I really want to share is what’s happening next, because it’s ambitious and everyone who has a PechaKucha night in their city needs to come out and support the cause. February 20th will be a worldwide wave of PK celebrations to support Architecture for Humanity’s rebuilding of Haiti relief efforts. This is evolving quickly and I will post more updates as plan solidify. For now, click here to learn more.

Now, back to PK STL 01…Stone foundation, exposed pipes …
Pecha Kucha! Yes, Pecha Kucha Night has finally landed in the STL. Tomorrow night, St. Louis–along with Brussels, Belgium, Durban, South Africa, and a few other cities worldwide–will be celebrating design and creativity, PK-style.

For those of you not already familiar with Pecha Kucha, it’s a fast paced format for artists, entrepreneurs, designers and anyone with big ideas to show them off using 20 slides, 20 seconds each. This is our first shot at this and it promises to be a great night. As one in a team of organizers, I am both nervous and excited. The worldwide popularity of PK has created some mighty tall shoes to …

Pecha Kucha is the Japanese word for, “the sound of conversation.” Pecha Kucha Night is a worldwide phenomena that started in Tokyo in 2003. The brainchild of Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham of Klein Dytham architecture, Pecha Kucha gives young designers the opportunity to show their work in a public arena. However, presentations are not limited to work alone (that’s where it gets really interesting). There’s just one catch; each person gets 20 slides that must be presented in only 20 seconds each! I was lucky enough to be able to participate in Pecha Kucha Chicago Vol.1 last year and in doing so had the opportunity to meet Mark Dytham. …
