So, I just read an hilarious article in Fast Company: Top Ten Meeting Personalities. It’s written by Jackie Yearney of Premiere Global Services (someone with a lot of experience in meetings). She’s created a top ten list of meeting personalities.

So, I just read an hilarious article in Fast Company: Top Ten Meeting Personalities. It’s written by Jackie Yearney of Premiere Global Services (someone with a lot of experience in meetings). She’s created a top ten list of meeting personalities.

I’m guilty of being a meeting multitasker - it’s something I’m definitely trying to stop. Everyone deserves 100% of my attention! I’m much better in person than in online meetings (I mean, how rude is it when someone is constantly blackberrying when you’re trying to talk to them in person?!).

An old colleague was known for being a mobile meeter (also famous for “the flush heard round the world” – not joking!).

Which meeting personality are you?

Image source: Flikr Creative Commons (note: searching “toilet telephone” definitely NSFW!)

Every six months we like to get our global team of HOK Life bloggers together to exchange helpful blogging tips and banana muffin recipes and and to continue charting our plot for global domination. Last week about 30 of us assembled around a virtual table, connected via WebEx. This included a group of 10 who gathered in our underground blogging bunker in an undisclosed St. Louis-area location.

Rachel and Jaki ran the show. They take punctuality very seriously, and actually locked and barred the door of the secret lair, aka “The Thunder Room,” at exactly 10:00 A.M. CST. Sorry, Mike, a meeting with Gyo is no excuse. We’ll fill you in later on what you missed.

Attorney/RecycOlympics medalist Jeff counseled us on never, ever giving away the formula for our HOK Life secret sauce.

After unofficially operating in a leadership capacity since a January coup, which has been under-reported down here in the U.S., Justin in Toronto was officially named Life at HOK and Pretzel Grand Poobah. That designation sent several scrambling for Wikipedia.

Michelle, a 20-something multi-tasker who was working on drawings and chewing gum while BlogExing, won the highly coveted Spirit Award. You can see the heartbreak on the faces of Valerie, just back from Singapore, and Jeannette, who prefers to operate in the shadows while hatching many of Life at HOK’s best ideas. Maybe next year, ladies! It feels like the photo should be in one of those “write your own caption” contests.

Anyway, there were several other well-deserved blogger awards, but I nodded off after John in Atlanta mentioned something about owning five iPods and the winning director of the best independent foreign language film just kept droning on and on.

Thanks to all participants, bloggers who couldn’t attend because of other work commitments, readers and the always-inspirational Tom Jones!
